When deciding between the isolated models and the non-isolated models, you should be aware that isolation technology available on the market today is limited to 12 Mbps. USB 2.0 devices operate at one of three speeds. Low speed devices, such as a keyboard or mouse, operate at 1.5 Mbps (USB 1.1). This is called “Low Speed.” Other devices, such as scanners or printers may operate at 12 Mbps (USB 1.1). This is called “Full Speed.” Devices such as USB video cameras may require 480 Mbps (USB 2.0). This is called “High Speed” USB. Our USB Hubs support 2.0 – However, the isolated hubs do not support “High Speed” 480 Mbps and will ratchet back to 12 Mbps.
The UHR204, our non-isolated four port hub, can operate on USB Bus Power. In this mode, it provides 100mA per port to downstream devices. It can also be powered from an external source if you need 500 mA to downstream devices. The UHR304, our isolated four port hub, and both the isolated and non-isolated seven port hubs, require external power. External 10 to 30 VDC can be provided through the removable terminal block connection or a handy threaded barrel plug if you desire our wall transformer power supply. All of our industrial grade hubs include a mounting accessory package that includes a DIN Rail Clip for attaching to a standard 35mm DIN Rail. It also includes mounting brackets that can be used to mount the hubs to any flat surface.
